Recommended Wood Species for Hospitality Use

For pool furniture specifically, we recommend only the highest durability species due to the combination of pool chemical exposure, constant UV, and intensive daily use.

Chengal (Neobalanocarpus heimii): Malaysia’s premium outdoor hardwood. Class 1 durability, 50+ year outdoor lifespan, naturally termite and rot resistant. The prestige specification for Malaysian resort and hotel outdoor furniture.
Balau (Shorea spp.): Excellent value high-durability hardwood. Class 1–2 durability, 25–40 year outdoor lifespan. The most widely specified outdoor furniture timber for Malaysian hospitality projects balancing performance and cost.
Merbau (Intsia palembanica): Rich reddish-brown, Class 1 durability, high natural oil content. Popular for resort furniture where warmer colour tones are part of the design specification.
Teak (Tectona grandis): Internationally recognised premium outdoor timber. Very high natural oils, Class 1 durability, golden colour. Specified by international hotel brands with global furniture standards requiring certified teak.

Hotel pool furniture orders follow a five-stage process: design sign-off (we confirm exact dimensions, design details, and finish specification against an approved sample or drawing), production scheduling (we confirm production start and completion dates against your project timeline), prototype production (1–2 sample units produced for client approval before full production), bulk production (with photographic quality updates), and delivery and placement at site.

For standard pool sunlounger supply to new resort openings, we recommend placing orders 12–16 weeks before the required delivery date to allow adequate production time and buffer for any design iterations.
