Overview
Alfresco dining is one of the highest-revenue spaces in any hotel or resort — breakfast terraces, pool bar dining areas, sunset dining pavilions, and garden restaurants generate significant F&B revenue while creating the memorable experiences that drive guest reviews and return visits. The furniture in these spaces is used for multiple service periods daily, exposed to both intensive commercial use and full outdoor conditions, and must maintain a five-star visual standard through years of service.
Oriental Allure Design supplies custom hardwood outdoor dining furniture to hotels and resorts across Malaysia — dining tables, side chairs, armchairs, bar stools, high-top bar tables, and banquette seating in Teak, Chengal, Balau, and Merbau. Our hospitality-grade dining furniture is built to commercial durability standards, available in stackable configurations for space-efficient storage between service periods, and customisable to any interior designer specification.

Why Hardwood Outdoor Furniture for 5-Star Hospitality
Resort alfresco dining furniture faces a demanding combination of requirements that few material categories meet comprehensively. It must withstand daily stacking and unstacking, resist outdoor weathering between meal services, meet the aesthetic standard of a premium dining environment, and remain comfortable for extended multi-course meals. Genuine hardwood meets all these requirements — no alternative material combines commercial durability, natural luxury aesthetics, and outdoor performance as effectively.
The stackable hardwood dining chair is the workhorse of resort alfresco dining — it must be light enough to be moved by wait staff, strong enough to stack 8–10 high in a storage area without structural stress, and attractive enough to be set on a fine dining terrace. Our hospitality dining chairs are engineered specifically for this balance — robust mortise-and-tenon joinery, reinforced leg stretchers, and a carefully controlled weight of 4–5kg for ergonomic staff handling.
Products & Specifications
Our hospitality outdoor dining furniture range covers every item required for a complete alfresco dining zone specification.
- Alfresco Dining Table: Slatted hardwood dining tables in standard hospitality sizes: 80cm x 80cm (2-top), 90cm x 90cm (4-top), 180cm x 90cm (6–8 top), 220cm x 100cm (8–10 top). Table base options: 4-leg, pedestal, or trestle. All tables produced with through-bolted construction for commercial durability.
- Stackable Dining Chair: The cornerstone of resort outdoor dining furniture — lightweight (4–5kg), stackable to 8 high, strong mortise-and-tenon joinery, available with flat seat (no cushion) or with outdoor cushion pad in Sunbrella or equivalent fabric. Available in side chair and armchair configurations.
- Cross-Back & Heritage Chair: The cross-back (also known as farmhouse or wedding chair) hardwood dining chair — the most popular alfresco dining chair for tropical resort settings. Classic X-pattern back, comfortable ergonomic seat, stackable, and available in natural, stained or painted finish.
- Outdoor Bar Stool: Hardwood bar stool in counter height (65cm seat) and bar height (75cm seat). Footrest rail at appropriate height. Available with fixed or swivel seat, with or without backrest. For swim-up bars and poolside bar counters, stainless steel footrest rail and hardware specified as standard.
- High-Top Bar Table: Round or square high-top bar table (bar height 105–110cm) for outdoor cocktail areas and bar zones. Standard diameters 60cm and 75cm round; 60cm x 60cm and 75cm x 75cm square. Heavy stable base essential for commercial use — specified with cross-braced or weighted pedestal design.
- Outdoor Banquette Bench: Fixed or moveable hardwood banquette bench seating for resort outdoor dining zones. Available in 2-seater (120cm) and 3-seater (160–180cm) configurations. Can be fitted with weather-resistant upholstered seat pads in specified outdoor fabric.
Recommended Wood Species
For resort outdoor dining furniture, species selection balances the aesthetics of the dining environment with practical commercial durability requirements.
- Teak: International gold standard for resort outdoor furniture — golden colour, Class 1 durability, FSC-certified options available.
- Chengal: Malaysia’s premium outdoor hardwood — Class 1, 50+ year lifespan, nationally recognised prestige species.
- Balau: Best value high-durability hardwood for volume hospitality supply — Class 1–2, 25–40 year lifespan.
- Merbau: Rich reddish-brown premium option — Class 1, high natural oils, excellent for tropical resort aesthetics.
For alfresco restaurant environments where the furniture is stored overnight (stacked under an overhang or in a store), Balau provides excellent durability at a more competitive price than Teak or Chengal. For fully exposed outdoor dining zones where furniture remains in the elements at all times, Chengal or Teak is the recommended specification.
Our Supply Process
Resort outdoor dining furniture supply begins with a detailed furniture schedule from the hotel’s FF&E team — listing each item, quantity, dimensions, and any design references. We review the schedule, confirm species and finish specification, and provide a line-item quotation within 3–5 business days. For design-specific items not in our standard range, we produce a technical drawing for client approval before pricing.
A prototype unit is produced for designer and client approval before full production commences on orders above 50 chairs or 20 tables. This prototype review catches any design issues before they become expensive production corrections. Payment terms for hospitality supply: 50% deposit on order confirmation, 40% at production milestone, 10% on delivery and acceptance.
Production Capacity
We produce 150–250 dining chairs per month under standard production scheduling. For hotel opening orders requiring 200+ chairs, we recommend a 14–16 week lead time from order confirmation to allow comfortable production scheduling without compromising quality. Table production is 30–50 units per month.
Our quality control process for hospitality dining furniture: each chair is load-tested to 150kg static load and checked for squareness and joinery quality. Tables are checked for level and structural integrity. All pieces are oiled, inspected for finish consistency, and individually wrapped for delivery. Delivery documentation includes item count, species certification, and finish specification confirmation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you supply outdoor dining chairs that stack to 8 high?
Yes — our standard hospitality stackable dining chair is designed and tested to stack stably to 8 units high. Stacking stability depends on consistent manufacturing dimensions (which our production QC ensures) and appropriate storage on flat, level surfaces. For resort properties with covered storage, 8-high stacking significantly reduces the storage footprint for large chair quantities between service periods.
What is the minimum order for resort outdoor dining furniture?
Our minimum order for hospitality dining furniture supply is RM 15,000 in total project value. For typical alfresco restaurant supply, this represents approximately 20–30 dining chairs and 8–10 tables depending on specifications. Below this threshold, our standard residential pricing applies and the order is handled as a standard commercial order rather than a hospitality project with the associated prototype and quality assurance process.
Do you supply outdoor dining furniture with matching cushions?
Yes — we work with outdoor fabric specialists to source cushions in your specified colour and fabric quality (Sunbrella or equivalent grade for hospitality outdoor use). Cushions are produced to the dimensions of our chair and bench seats. We supply both the timber frames and matching cushions as a coordinated package. Cushion replacement orders can be placed independently of timber frames for ongoing hotel operations.
Can outdoor dining furniture be delivered and installed at our resort?
Yes — for Johor Bahru and Johor state projects, we provide delivery and placement at site as part of the project scope. For properties in other states, we coordinate with experienced hotel furniture logistics companies for lift access, floor protection, and zone-by-zone delivery. For new resort openings, we coordinate delivery timing with the FF&E project manager to align with the broader installation programme.
